Cinderella Dress Day 2012 Event(s)

March 12th-Monday is Sort Day             March 16th -Friday is setup day                 March 17th-Satuday is Cinderella Dress Day

We have volunteered as a group in the past to help sort and prepare these donated dresses.  Saturday is a fun day to help girls find, try on and choose a dress.  Girls who volunteer are allowed to choose a dress of their own : -)

"Peerless Cleaners along with the Ft. Wayne Medical Society Alliance teamed up again this year for its annual Cinderella Dress Day.  This event allows every girl a chance to go to her high school prom in a dress that they might not have been able to afford.  The formal dresses are slightly used.  Peerless Cleaners collects the formal dresses the month of February.  The volunteers for the Medical Alliance spend countless hours getting these dresses all organized for the big event, which is usually held the 2nd weekend in March.  All of the dresses are grouped by size and color.  Peerless Cleaners gives each girl a coupon to get their newly picked dress cleaned for a minimal cost before their prom".

Call for Volunteers:

Hi Everyone! I am actively seeking volunteers to assist with the upcoming annual Cinderella Dress Day. We need girls, boys, and a mother or two to help this year. Please see below for information on days and times you may sign up to volunteer.

For the benefit of anyone unfamiliar with the event, Cinderella Dress Day is a program sponsored and put on by the Fort Wayne Medical Society Auxiliary and Peerless Cleaners that allows area high-school aged girls to receive a gently used Prom/Formal gown absolutely free. Peerless Cleaner’s then provides coupons to the girls so that they may submit the gown to be professionally cleaned for only $5. In addition, there is a very strong message to the girls regarding abstinence from sex and other personal safety tips. To round out the event, there will be booths where the girls can receive hair-styling tips, make-up samples, jewelry, and various other items of interest. It truly is a wonderful event, one I am proud to have CHAT involved in.

The actual event will be held on Saturday, March 17th from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at the Boys and Girls’ Club on Fairfield. We need volunteers on three different days. Any CHAT girl who volunteers will have the opportunity to choose a dress on the day that she volunteers, after the work is done. It’s nice to have the opportunity to take your first choice of dress before the event is opened to the public. Please carefully consider each date and sign up for at least one:

Sorting Day: Monday, March 12th from 9 a.m. to 12 noon at Peerless Cleaners on Main Street. I need 8-10 girls and at least 1 mom to serve as chaperone, please.

Set-up Day: Friday, March 16th from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Boys’ and Girls’ Club on Fairfield. I need every available teen (boys and girls alike) and at least 1 mom to serve as chaperone, please.

Event Day: Saturday, March 17th from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Boys’ and Girls’ Club on Fairfield. I need 8-10 girls to help work the event. I will be the chaperone for this event.

Please e-mail me at evansfamily1989@juno.com or send me a personal FB message indicating which date(s) you wish to volunteer along with a phone number where I may reach you.

Thanks!

Stacy Evans

In-The-Wing Arts-in-Education Program

September 1, 2011 (oops!)

RE: IN THE WINGS Arts-In-Education Program

Dear IN THE WINGS Coordinators:

It is the new WINGS season and I know you are all wondering why I haven’t informed you about the Orientation Meeting normally scheduled this time of year.

The financial roller coaster our country is riding has taken its toll on our funders. Many of the past WINGS funders have dissolved, merged, or "changed their focus." It has proven to be extremely difficult to raise money for our program when so many people are in need.

Due to these factors, it has been decided that the WINGS program will follow a different approach this season. Instead of scheduling all shows up front, we will only offer a performance as grants are secured or if a sponsor wishes to make some of its tickets available for IN THE WINGS. Therefore, we will not hold the Orientation Meeting this year since no new members will be joining.

To that effect, the Civic Theatre can offer 300 tickets for the upcoming musical CHICAGO. This performance is scheduled for Saturday, November 5th at 2:00pm and WINGS participants will be sharing the house with a sponsor that bought only half a house.

CHICAGO is not a show for children. It has occasional strong adult language, deals frankly with topics of sexuality, and deals humorously with topics of violence. Please tell your participants to take this into consideration when ordering tickets. Also, remind all relevant participants that babes in arms and children up to the age of 2 are not allowed in the auditorium. The building management reserves the right to remove any person(s) not abiding by these rules. Due to the limited number of seats, make sure every ticket requested will be used.

Study guides will still be available online and the Civic Theatre will continue to offer free backstage tours, free internships, and free workshops.

Thank you for your understanding. Please visit our website for further show information: www.fwcivic.org.

Sincerely,

Eunice Wadewitz     Music & Education Director      260.422.8641, Ext. 226      ewadewitz@fwcivic.org

Come be a part of TeenPact!

If you haven't already been pestered to death by one of the Henvey boys(Tate & Tanner) about going to TeenPact, the following is an urgent announcement regarding the 2012 Class.

The Teenpact organization is one of intentional education and encouragement, all designed to build up the next generation of leaders. We believe that every teen has a great spiritual capacity as well as a scriptural mandate to cultivate and use their talents. Christian students all across the nation are turning to a TeenPact state capitol experience instead of just a textbook. TeenPact teaches the foundations of government with the legislative branch, beginning with a week-long session at the students' own state capitol. The TeenPact state class will be held at the Government offices across from the capitol building in Indianapolis, Indiana.  If your student, ages 13-19, attends just 3 capitol experiences that is equal to 1 high school government credit!    We also have a one day class available for ages 8-12

Your student may also register to stay at Camp Camby where there will be additional worship time, play time and devotional time for students. There is an additional charge of
$130 for 3 nights and 6 meals or $170 for 4 nights and 8 meals (if student stays over for the Friday Political Communication class). All students are responsible for their own lunches which can be purchased at the Government Center cafeteria.

karynhenvey@reagan.com or by phone at 260-627-8242 or you can ask to get a first-hand testimonial from Tate or Tanner regarding what you can expect to experience at TeenPact. :)

Lastly, there is pre-class homework that needs to be completed.  To help students stay on top of it, we're considering meeting a few times to go over the homework and collaborate a bit.  If anyone is interested in doing that, please let me know.

Thanks so much for your interest in Teenpact!  And have a blessed day!!!
